Description/Abstract:
ALTHOUGH MAN IS ABOUT TO VENTURE INTO SPACE FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME AND ALTHOUGH ONE EXPECTS HIS SAFE RETURN TO EARTH, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE HAZARDS OF SPACE TRAVEL ARE MANIFOLD AND GREAT. IT SHOULD BE EMPHASIZED THAT CONSIDERABLE FURTHER EXPLORATION OF BOTH THE SPACE ENVIRONMENT AND THE INTERNAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE SPACE SHIP ARE NECESSARY BEFORE THE DANGERS OF SPACE TRAVEL CAN BE FULLY ASSESSED. AMONG THE MOST IMPORTANT EFFORTS IN THESE DIRECTIONS SHOULD BE THE EXECUTION OF SATELLITE EXPERIMENTS PRIMARILY DESIGNED FOR BIOLOGICAL PURPOSES.
