Description/Abstract:
STUDIES OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ULTRAVIOLET IRRADIATION IN REDUCING THE RATES OF RESPIRATORY DISEASE IN MILITARY BARRACKS WERE CONDUCTED AT SAMPSON NAVAL TRAINING CENTER FROM 1943 TO 1945. THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST SEASON'S STUDY INDICATED A REDUCTION OF 25 PERCENT IN THE RADIATED GROUP. A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE SECOND YEAR'S WORK GAVE A REDUCTION IN THE RADIATED GROUP OF ABOUT 18 PERCENT.
