PROGRESS REPORT OF CAL-3 DATES RANGING FROM AN INJURY IN SEPTEMBER 1946 TO DISCHARGE DATE OF AUGUST 7, 1947 (PARTIAL REPORT). DISCUSSES PATIENT BEING TREATED AS A PRIVATE PATIENT BY DR. LLOYD FISHER IN OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA. REFERRED TO A DR. CARTER AS AN INDUSTRIAL CASE IN SEPTEMBER 1946 DUE TO AN INJURY. PATIENT WAS TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE COUNTY HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. DR. BELLAMY RECOMMENDED ADMISSION OF MR. (REDACTED) FOR TREATMENT. ADMISSION WAS TO BE TO THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL. BIOPSY WAS DIAGNOSED AS BONE CYST, PATHOLOGICALLY. X-RAY STUDIES SHOWED A DESTRUCTIVE LESION IN THE LEFT FEMORAL CONDYLE. PATIENT WAS ADMITTED ON JULY 13, 1947. (A PROGRESS NOTE ON JULY 16, 1947 WAS RECORDED AS MAY 16, 1947). STATEMENT BY R. MULLEN: PATIENT VERY COMFORTABLE AND CHEERFUL. TOES MOVE WELL. 05/17/47 X-RAY SCOUT FILMS NEGATIVE FOR ANY EVIDENCE OF METASTASES. AMPUTATION POSTPONED UNTIL MONDAY TO HAVE RADIOACTIVE TRACER SUBSTANCES PREPARED (PLUTONIUM) AND STANDARDIZED. WILL HAVE TUMOR UPTAKE STUDIES DONE. SURGERY ON MONDAY. HEMOGLOBIN 92 PERCENT, WBC 7,300. SIGNED BY R. MULLEN. DISCHARGE NOTE AUGUST 7, 1947, DIAGNOSIS OF ONE OSTEOMYXOCHONDROSARCOMA OF LEFT FEMUR-DISTAL CONDYLE. SECOND, TREATMENT OF LUES.
