EXCERPTS FROM "INDUSTRIAL MEDICINE ON THE PLUTONIUM PROJECT." DESCRIBES WHY IT WAS NECESSARY TO ESTABLISH THE PLUTONIUM EXCRETION RATE FOR MAN BY DIRECT EXPERIMENTS WITH HUMAN BEINGS. DISCUSSES EXCRETION RATES OF INDIVIDUALS STUDIED BY WRIGHT LANGHAM, J. J. NICKSON, E. R. RUSSELL, AND J. G. HAMILTON. DETAILS INFORMATION OF PLUTONIUM DISTRIBUTION IN ONE STUDY, A 68-YEAR OLD WHITE MAN WHOSE SYSTEM WAS CONSIDERED TO BE FAIRLY NORMAL. STATES THAT A BODY TOLERANCE LIMIT OF ONE MICROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THE PLUTONIUM PROJECT.
