Description/Abstract:
A SHORT SYNPOSIS IS PRESENTED TO DESCRIBE THE METEOROLOGICAL CONDITION S ASSOCIATED WITH THE NRX-A3 EP IV AND EP V TEST AT NRDS. IN ADDITION TO THE SYNOPSIS, METEOROLOGICAL DATA OBTAINED DURING THESE EXPERIMENTS IS INCLUDED IN THE APPENDIX. THE PURPOSE OF THIS REPORT IS TO PROVIDE THE READER WITH A REVIEW OF THE MAJOR FEATURES OF THE METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AFFECTING BOTH TESTS AND ALSO TO PROVIDE THE DATA FROM WHIC H SPECIFIC METEOROLOGICAL QUESTIONS MIGHT BE ANSWERED. THE DEGREE OF V ARIABILITY OF WIND DIRECTION DURING THESE TWO EXPERIMENTAL PLANS IS QU ITE CONTRASTED. HIGHLY VARIABLE WIND DIRECTIONS WERE EXPERIENCED DURIN G EP IV WHEREAS WIND DIRECTIONS FOR EP V WERE QUITE PRESISTENT. THE TRAJECTORY OF A TETROON RELEASED DURING EP V AND TRACKED BY RADA R AGREES WELL WITH AIR PARCEL TRAJECTORIES COMPUTED FROM WIND DATA.
