The basic objectives of the study are: (1) to determine the fate of radioactive materials currently being discharged to the Clinch River, (2) to determine and understand the mechanisms of dispersion of radionuclides released to the river, (3) to evaluate the direct and indirect hazards of current disposal practices in the river, (4) to evaluate the over-all usefulness of this river for radioactive waste disposal purposed, and (5) to recommend long-term monitoring procedures.
