Isotope production is neccessary to the US medical community because it has been without a reliaable back-up supply of medical isotopes. Primary goals of the program would be to (1) Provide an indigenous supply of radioactive isoptes that comply with FDA requirements and needs of the US medical and research community and (2) Provide a reliable and continual backup production capacity to supply North America with Medical and Research isotopes if the need should occur.
