Description/Abstract:
The low figure given in the statistical data for this reporting period for the total amount of activity discharged from White Oak Lake is an indirect result of the rain storm on July 18 and 19. During this flood, White Oak Dam spillway gate was lowered and left in this position during and immediately following the flood. The gate was raised to the normal operating level on July 27, 1949, thus giving no disharge from White Oak Lake during the latter part of this period. This action, together with the increased flow of the Clinch River, gave a significant decrease in the probable average concentration in the Clinch River below White Oak Creek. Deviation was minus 84 percent from the previous week.
