Released under Phase II of the Oak Ridge Health Studies Agreement. Summary data obtained during the first, second, and fourth quarter of calendar year 1960 from the health physics surveys and monitoring programs for the Mechanical Operations Division is presented. Included are results of environmental monitoring, breathing zone and operational air samples, smear samples, personnel internal and external exposure monitoring, stack monitoring, and surface contamination monitoring. In estimating the degree of internal exposure experienced by employees processing certain radioactive materials, urine specimens and in vivo counts are obtained. Work restrictions are noted in instances where maximum permitted Plant levels were exceeded as indicated by the monitoring data. Results of stack monitoring measurements are addressed as a valuable index of material loss to the atmosphere.
