This final EIS is comprised of 14 documents: A User's Guide, a Summary, and Volumes I, II, and III. DOE is in the process of making important decisions regarding spent nuclear fuel, environmental restoration, and waste management programs. Volume I analyzes the potential environmental consequences over the next 40 years of alternatives related to the transportation, receipt, processing, and storage of DOE's spent nuclear fuel. Volume II analyzes the site-specific consequences of INEL actions anticipated over the next 10 years for waste and spent nuclear fuel management and environmental restoration. Volume III contains public comment summaries on the draft EIS and DOE responses.
