Description/Abstract:
Minutes include discussion of change in name of the Committee from Medical Advisory Committee to Medical Committee of the Manhattan District. The Committee makes overall recommendations on the coordination of the medical research activities of the District, coordinates facilitation and standardization of health and safety control for the District, and coordinates and directs activities of the medical research division in the solution of industrial hygiene problems. Temporary quarters at Monsanto Chemical Company, new contracts with University of Kansas and University of Tennessee, and approval of a visit from Dr. G. Failla of the Columbia Project to the Berkeley Project to discuss problems in his work were also discussed. Staffing and space difficulties resulted in an authorization of $200,000 for biological research covering the period up to 1 July 1947. The problem of disposal of contaminated materials was raised as well.
