Description/Abstract:
Released under Phase II of the Oak Ridge Health Studies Agreement. The report discusses the background and scope of the DARA project based on requirements necessary to close Oil Retention Ponds adjacent to Burial Grounds A in accordance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The DARA project is the first step in remediation of the Bear Creek Waste Disposal Area. Remedial actions have been grouped into three subprojects: removal of contaminated water and soils from oil retention ponds, support facilities, and the groundwater treatment facility (GWTF). These remedial actions proposed by this project will mitigate the movement of contaminants into Bear Creek, its tributaries, and the groundwater systems in Bear Creek Valley.
