Description/Abstract:
Reference is made to a letter from C.E. Center dated June 15, 1956, subject, "Recommendation on Disposition of the Beta-4 Elex Facility" and another letter dated July 2, 1956, relative to the distribution of mercury in the Alpha-5 Project. The letter states that 103,030 flasks of Mercury are due by the AEC to the national stock pile and lists a procurement program to meet these requirements. Washington has ordered the quantity of Mercury required to meet the minimum stock pile, but negotiations have been initiated only for the quantity of mercury required for procurment priority level. A recommendation concerning the dismantlement of Beta-4 may necessitate the return of all mercury not required for the Alpha plants to the national stock pile.
