Description/Abstract:
Labor Standards Committee Case Report: Scrape loose and flaking coatings from PVC Diking. Scuff PVC diking with heavy grit sandpaper to ensure proper adhesion of touch up coating. After preparation coat dike and area adjacent to dike with Polymeria EWM Elastomeric coating. Install elastomeric coating out from dike a distance of 12 inches. Work is to repair craacking of coating on dikes and floors and is limited to edges of dikes. Job is being performed to bring coating into complaince with State permits. The preparation of sealing of dikes and floors is considered general upkeep and maintenance of the waste storage facility. Repairing the coating is a reoccurring action based on the results of periodic inspections to prevent facility deterioriation and compliance. These repairs are considered routine and repetitive due to the fact, sudden weeather change, expanding and contracting of concrete cause new cracks to appear. Exclusion 1.D.2 and 1.D.3. MMES will provide the material, equipment and manpower necessary to perform this work. The manpower to be used is part of our stable, trained maintenance force. $3,600.
