The program for future RaLa production outlined in a letter from A.H. Holland to C.N. Rucker on August 24, 1949 is referenced. Pursuant to AEC desires, Oak Ridge National Laboratory undertook tthe necessary research and development to provide a better RaLa produciton process and plant. The design is stablized sufficiently to allow the making of a firm estimate of the cost of installation at this location. Process improvements made thus far in RaLa production at the Oak Ridge facility are described, with Barium recovery at 95 percent and high level runs using ca. 500 to 3000 Curies of product. The expenditure for the installation of RaLa facilities at Oak Ridge as research and development which is used as a production plant or even as a standby for the installation at Hanford, is considered a capital addition to the Laboratory facilities.
