Description/Abstract:
This document contains the minutes of the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant (ORGDP) Nuclear Safety Committee Meeting, January 29, 1965. Routine audits of plant operations revealed only two minor deviations from approved nuclear safety procedures or practices and that corrective measures were initiated promptly. Some results of the new 5 percent interaction studies with multiple-unit arrays are now available in the literature, and that additional critical mass data was obtained with single units at the 5 percent U-235 enrichment level. Development work was being conducted at the ORGDP to assure compliance with proposed radioactive materials shipping criteria. Various precautionary measures were taken to assure nuclear safety during the K-25 and K-27 shutdown operations, and the special audit activities and cooperation of the nuclear safety staff group during this period were noted. The neutron interaction study of unreflected arrays conducted for the AEC was described, and it was indicated that work on reflected arrays was in progress.
