Description/Abstract:
This document contains a Health Physics - Hygiene Progress Report for February 1 - 28, 1949. A thorough investigation of the fluorimetric urinanalysis procedure has been completed, and the precision and reproducibility of the method are well known. A total of 88 samples of air-borne uranium were taken in 11 work locations during the period. About 4 percent of these samples gave concentrations in excess of 150/ug/M3 while 8 percent indicated concentrations exceeding an activity of 1225 d/min/M3. A marked decrease in air contamination in Room 17 of Building 9206 has resulted from (1) installing ventillation ducts over the crusher and raising the oil level in the crusher; and (2) installing a hood over the chip tray.
