Description/Abstract:
This correspondence is concerning proposed toxicological studies. In an effort to obtain higher concentrations of Uranium-234, a plan was proposed to determine kidney function, uranium intake, uranium absorption, and uranium deposition. A long range study on the effects of minimal exposures to the machinists and operators in the Sunflower and Daffodil programs was also proposed. The plan consisted of monitoring and sampling techniques; body tissue analyses to be done if opportunity came about; and the routine for urine and air sampling, hand counts and periodic clothing and surface measurements, and an industrial health recheck of employees in both programs every three months. In the conclusion, it was recommended that the proposed studies be approved and started as soon as possible.
