This correspondence is concerning a quarterly air analysis report-machining and foundry operations. During the first quarter of 1953, 3285 air samples were taken in the machining and foundry areas of Building 9212. The highlights of the Air Sampling Program were summarized as follows: (1) Sunflower Foundry - The concentrations of uranium in air as indicated by the general air results have reversed the downward trend that they had followed for the last seven months of 1952, and it is believed that a production increase and difficulties experienced with ventilation facilities are responsible for this upward trend of contamination levels; (2) Sunflower Machine Shop - the air contamination as evidenced by the general air results indicated a continued downward trend, and installation of machine hoods is mainly responsible for this decrease; (3) Daffodil machine Shop - all air findings reported for this area indicated there was no air contamination problem. The block method of presenting the data was used with a description of operation listed at the top of the block and sample room or area at the bottom of the block. This is included in report.
