Asbestos and asbestos-contaminated debris generated during various renovation, maintenance and construction operations at the Y-12 and K-25 sites over the years have been disposed of in the Y-12 Plant Bear Creek Burial Grounds on the DOE reservation. Since 1978, asbestos and asbestos-contaminated debris have been disposed of in designated trenches identified as the Y-12 Asbestos Disposal Pits. Existing site conditions and a capping plan for the disposal area are given in this document.
