Description/Abstract:
This record documents correspondence between D. Cooksey, of University of California Radiation Laboratory, and W.F. Giauque, of University of California, regarding the production of liquid air that was needed by the Radiation Laboratory. The author wants to avoid using liquid oxygen, due to the fire hazard, and asks the Chemistry department to produce liquid air as it was not available from any other local source. The author agreed to endorse the deferment from military service of two men so they could work in the Chemistry Department on the production of the needed liquid air.
