DR. LUSHBAUGH GIVES TESTIMONY REGARDING THE USES OF RADIOISOTOPES AND RADIATION IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF DISEASES. MORE SPECIFICALLY HE LIMITS HIS DISCUSSION TO THE DEVELOPING NEW TECHNIQUES OF WHOLE BODY COUNTING AND ITS APPLICATION TO THE DIAGNOSIS OF VARIOUS DISEASE STATES. MENTIONED ARE VARIOUS TRACER STUDIES USING IRON 59, IODINE 131, COBALT 60, AND CHROMIUM 51. ONE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY WAS THE INJECTION OF A PREGNANT WOMAN WITH IRON 59 TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CHILD'S BIRTH. FOLLOWING BIRTH, BOTH THE BABY AND THE PLACENTA WERE MEASURED TO DETERMINE IRON UPTAKE.
