Description/Abstract:
KERR, DIRECTOR OF LASL, REPLIES TO PISTENMA'S REQUEST FOR A FIVE YEAR PROJECTION OF PLANS FOR THE PION THERAPY PROJECT. KERR POINTS OUT THA THE LAMPF OPERATING SCHEDULE CONTINUES TO BE LIMITED PRIMARILY BY FUNDING. KERR IS HOPEFUL THAT THE PLANNED TWENTY-SIX WEEKS OF OPERATI CAN BE EXTENDED TO THIRTY WEEKS. ALTHOUGH THE PION THERAPY PROJECT IS VIEWED WITH ENTHUSIASM, KERR CANNOT PROJECT WHETHER DOE AND CONGRESS WILL SUPPORT THE CURRENT LEVEL IN THE FUTURE. INDEPENDENT AND COMPLEMENTARY EFFORTS ARE EXPECTED AT BOTH TRIUMPF IN CANADA AND AT SI IN SWITZERLAND.
