Description/Abstract:
THIS DOCUMENT IS A PROTOCOL FOR HUMAN RADIOBIOLOGY STUDIES OF THE PI MESON RADIATION THERAPY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO/LOS ALAMOS SCIENTIFIC LABORATORY. ELIGIBLE PATIENTS MUST HAVE METASTATIC LESIONS ORIGINATING FROM BIOPSY-PROVEN SOLID TUMORS, WHOSE PROJECTED SURVIVAL AT LEAST THREE MONTHS. ALL PATIENTS WILL RECEIVE NON-RANDOMIZED PION THERAPY AT THE MESON PHYSICS FACILITY (LAMPF) IN LOS ALAMOS EITHER ALO OR AS A PLANNED BOOST IN CONJUNCTION WITH CONVENTIONAL RADIOTHERAPY. CURRENT TREATMENT POLICY FOR TREATMENT OF PELVIS, HEAD AND NECK, BRAIN AND PANCREAS SITES ARE LISTED. PATENT CONSENT FORMS ARE INCLUDED, SOM FOR BOTH MALE AND FEMALE PATIENTS.
