Description/Abstract:
APPREHENSION SWEPT THE FARMINGTON AREA ON THE SUBJECT OF CONTAMINATION OF THE ANIMAS RIVER WITH RADIUM (VANADIUM CORPORATION AT DURANGO, COLORADO). RADIUM WAS PRESENT IN THE WATER, BUT LESS THAN HALF MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE CONCENTRATION. ELEVEN FARMINGTON RESIDENTS ( FOUR ADULTS AND SEVEN CHILDREN WERE COUNTED IN THE HUMAN COUNTER WITH NO EVIDENCE OF ANY BODY BURDEN OF RADIUM ). GROUP H-5 HAS DONE A GREAT DEAL OF WORK ON THE REDUCTION OF DATA OBTAINED IN THE FALLOUT STUDIES OF THE KIWI-A (ROVER) TEST. GROUP H-6 REPORTED THAT ACTIVITY IN RAIN WATER CONTINUED LOW. TOTAL ACTIVITY COLLECTED PER UNIT AREA SEEM TO BE INDEPENDENT OF AMOUNT OF RAIN, SO LONG AS SOME FALLS.
