Description/Abstract:
THIS RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTECD IN FOUR PARTS: ( A ) APPLICATION OF THE E XPLODING WIRE PHENOMENON TO A STUDY OF THE FRACTIONATION BEHAVIOR OF T RACE FISSION PRODUCT RADIOELEMENTS CONDENSING IN THE PRESENCE OF A PRE DOMINANT IRON OR IRON OXIDE MATRIX. ( B ) DEVELOPMENT OF A SEALED CHAM BER ( ISOPIESTIC ) METHOD TO EXPLORE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SUBSTRATE EFFECT IN LAND-SURFACE NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS. ( C ) A SYSTEMATIC EXAMINA TION OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF FISSION PRODUCTS IN WHOLE TREES AND OTHER COMPOSITION OF AIR PARTICULATES WITH A VIEW TO DISCERNING THE EXTENT TO WHICH URBAN OR SUBURBAN TROPOSPHERIC AEROSOLS COULD BE TREATED AS M ULTI-COMPONENT MIXTURES OF SOURCES.
