Description/Abstract:
THREE PERSONS WHO HAD BEEN INJECTED WITH KNOWN AMOUNTS OF PLUTONIUM IN 1945 TO 1947, WERE HOSPITALIZED ON A METABOLIC WARD IN 1973. ALL EXCR RETA WERE COLLECTED FOR AT LEAST EIGHT DAYS AND THE SAMPLES WERE ANALY ED FOR PLUTONIUM. FOR THE TWO SUBJECTS WHO HAD BEEN INJECTED INTRAVENO USLY WITH TETRAVALENT PLUTONIUM 239 AS THE CITRATE, THE URINARY EXCRET ION RATES WERE 7.6 AND 4.7 PICO CURIES PER DAY AT APPROXIMATELY 10 THO USAND DAYS AFTER INJECTION; THESE RATES CORRESPONDED TO 2.52 X 10E-3 P ERCENT AND 1.41 X 10E-3 PERCENT OF THE INJECTED DOSES PER DAY RESPECTI VELY. THE FECAL EXCRETION RATES WERE ABOUT 40 PER CENT OF THE URINARY RATES.
