Description/Abstract:
AN INSTRUMENT HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO DEFINE THE DEPTH LIMITS OF A RADIOA CTIVE WATER POOL. THE ESSENTIAL PORTION OF THE INSTRUMENT IS A FREE-S INKING, RECOVERABLE, FISSION-PRODUCT GAMMA-RADIATION SENSOR WHICH INDI CATES THE PRESENCE OF RADIATION IN EXCESS OF FULL SCALE AND ACTUAL RAD IATION INTENSITY BELOW FULL SCALE. THE INSTRUMENT HAS THRESHOLD SENSI TIVITIES OF 1 MR/HR OR 10 MR/HR, AND CAN RECORD LEVELS TO 75 MR/HR OR 1000 MR/HR RESPECTIVELY. ABOVE THESE LEVELS THE RECORDS SHOW SATURATI ON, I.E., ONLY THE PRESENCE OF HIGHLY CONTAMINATED WATER.
