Description/Abstract:
A MODEL IS PRESENTED WHICH EMPLOYS A DIGITAL COMPUTER PROGRAM AND THE ASSUMPTION OF RADIAL FLOW TO YIELD A NON-SPHERICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE EARLY MOTION OF AN UNDERWATER EXPLOSION BUBBLE IN THE PRESENCE OF A FR EE SURFACE AND A GRAVITATIONAL FIELD. THIS MODEL IS COMPARED WITH A S PHERICAL MODEL AND WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC OBSERVATIONS FOR SELECTED YIELDS AND DEPTHS. THE RELATIVE MERITS OF BOTH MODELS FOR PREDICTING PURPOSE S ARE SUMMARIZED.
