IN THIS SURVEY, THE CONCENTRATION OF TRACE ELEMENTS FROM SEAWATER AND SIMILAR SOLUTIONS ARE DESCRIBED FOR A NUMBER OF TRACE ELEMENTS. BOTH ORGANIC AND INORGANIC EXCHANGERS ARE USED TO CONCENTRATE TRACE ELEMENT S FROM SOLUTIONS. THE SUMMARIES OF THE METHODS GIVEN HERE ARE DETAILE D OR SCANTY ACCORDING AS THE ORIGINAL PAPERS WERE OR WERE NOT AVAILABL E. DESPITE THE BREVITY OF THE PRESENTATION OF SOME OF THE METHODS, MO ST OF SUCH METHODS ARE IMMEDIATELY USABLE. SOME CONCENTRATION METHODS REQUIRE NO HYDROGEN POTENTIAL ADJUSTMENT OF SOLUTIONS PRIOR TO ADSORP TION AND CAN THEREFORE BE USED IN SITU. OTHERS REQUIRE SOME SOLUTION TREATMENT PRIOR TO ADSORPTION AND CAN THEREFORE BE APPLIED ONLY IN THE LABORATORY. NEW ORGANIC AND INORGANIC EXCHANGERS ARE BEING CONSTANTL Y DEVELOPED. A GOOD AGENT FOR CONCENTRATING CESIUM FROM SEAWATER IS T HE INORGANIC EXCHANGER AMMONIUM MOLYBDOPHOSPHATE (AMP) WHICH REUIRES L ITTLE OR NO SOLUTION TREATMENT PRIOR TO ADSORPTION.
