Description/Abstract:
THE SECTION "RADIATION DOSE OVER CONTAMINATED SURFACES," IN THE EFFECT S OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS IS OUT OF DATE WITH REGARD TO THE ACCOUNT IT TAKE S OF FRACTIONATION EFFECTS. THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE TECHNICAL BASIS FOR REVISING THAT SECTION. IT RECOMMENDS THAT THE EXPOSURE DOSE RATE FROM FRACTIONATED DEBRIS BE PRESENTED AS THE PRODUCT OF A CONTAMINATIO N SURFACE DENSITY WITH THE SUM OF THREE TERMS. THE FIRST TERM IS THE EXPOSURE DOSE RATE CONTRIBUTION OF REFRACTORILY BEHAVING FISSION PRODU CT NUCLIDES. THE THIRD TERM EXPRESSES THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE INDUCED ACTIVITIES.
