Description/Abstract:
THE EROSION-CORROSION CAUSED BY THE WASHING OF A MIXTURE OF SEAWATER A ND OCEAN-BOTTOM MATERIAL ACROSS A SPECIMEN OF HAYNES-25 AT AMBIENT ROO M TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN STUDIED WITH RADIOACTIVE TRACER TECHNIQUES. TH E RESULTS OBTAINED UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF THIS STUDY SHOWED THAT THE CORROSION RATE IN SUCH AN ENVIRONMENT INCREASED 4 ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE OVER THAT OBSERVED IN SEAWATER ALONE.
