Description/Abstract:
TECHNICAL HIGH SPEED MOTION PICTURES WERE MADE FROM THREE STATIONS. TO WER +1 ON BIKINI, THE U.S.S. KENNETH WHITING ARMY AIR FORCE C-54 +627. THESE RECORDS CONTAIN A 100 CYCLE PER SECOND TIME TRACE ON THE FILM E DGE. A DESCRIPTION OF INSTRUMENTATION USED, WITH LOCATION, SPECIFICATI ONS AND OPERATIONAL RESULTS, IS GIVEN. ALL CAMERAS OPERATED BUT SOME O PERATED PREMATURELY. MEASUREMENTS AGAINST TIME WERE MADE FROM THESE AN D OTHER FILMS OF THE HEIGHT OF THE DOME; THE PROPAGATION OF THE WATER AND AIR SHOCK WAVES, AND OF THE CONDENSATION CLOUD; AND DIAMETER OF TH E SMOKE CLOUD. IN ADDITION, AN ANALYSIS OF THE PROPAGATION OF THE AIR SHOCK WAVE AND OF THE GROWTH OF THE FIRE BALL FOR TEST ABLE WAS MADE. THE DATA PRESENTED IN THIS REPORT HAS BEEN OR MAY BE USED TO DETERMINE PEAK PRESSURES OF THE AIR SHOCK WAVE FOR TEST ABLE; AND DOME VELOCITY AND OTHER CALCULATIONS IN THE DETERMINATION OF BOMB EFFICIENCY FOR TE ST BAKER.
