Description/Abstract:
THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE MEASUREMENTS PROGRAM WAS TO OBTAIN THE GE NERAL SHAPE OF THE FIRST PULSE IN FOUR WAVELENGTH REGIONS DESIGNATED A S ULTRAVIOLET, VISIBLE, NEAR-INFRARED, AND BROADBAND. A SECONDARY OBJE CTIVE WAS TO DETERMINE THE RATIO OF DIRECT TO SCATTERED RADIATION FOR THE FIRST PULSE IN THE SAME WAVELENGTH REGIONS. PROCEDURE WAS TO ATTEN UATE AND SPECTRALLY LIMIT INCOMING RADIATION TO VARIOUS PHOTO-DETECTOR S WHOSE ELECTRICAL OUTPUTS WERE AMPLIFIED AND RECORDED ON OSCILLOSCOPE CAMERAS AND SOMETIMES ON MAGNETIC TAPE. THE GENERAL SHAPE OF THE FIRS T PULSE OF THERMAL RADIATION FROM THE LITTLE FELLER I EVENT WAS MEASUR ED IN THREE WAVELENGHT REGIONS. THE FIRST PULSE, IN THE BROADBAND REGI ON, REACHED A MAXIMUM IN APPROXIMATELY AND A MINIMUM IN APPROXIMATELY. INSTRUMENTATION FOR MEASURING THE RATIO OF DIRECT TO SCATTERED RADIAT ION WAS SATURATED AND NO DATA WAS OBTAINED.
