Description/Abstract:
THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO MEASURE THE NEUTRON FLUX AS A FUN CTION OF DISTANCE FROM HIGH-ALTITUDE NUCLEAR DETONATIONS THE THRESHOLD DETECTOR SYSTEM WAS USED TO MEASURE THE FLUX. GOLD, UNANIUM 235, PLU TONIUM 239, NEPTUNIUM 237, URANIUM 238, SULFUR, MAGNESIUM, ALUMINUM, A ND ZIRCONIUM FOILS WERE EMPLOYED AS DETECTING MATERIALS. INSTRUMENT P ODS CARRIED ALOFT BY THE LAUNCH VEHICLES WERE USED TO POSITION THE DET ECTORS NEAR THE DETONATION. FOUR SETS OF INSTRUMENTS WERE PLACED IN E ACH OF THREE PODS FOR SHOTS BLUE GILL TRIPPLE PRIME, KING FISH AND STA RDISH PRIME.
