THE RADIATION DOSES TO MANEUVER UNITS FOR EXERCISE DESERT ROCK V ARE R ECONSTRUCTED FOR EACH APPLICABLE SHOT OF OPERATION UPSHOT-KNOTHOLE (19 53). THE MANEUVER TROOP UNITS RECEIVED THE SAME INITIAL RADIATION DOSE S AS CALCULATED PREVIOUSLY FOR TROOP OBSERVERS AT THESE SHOTS. RESIDUA L DOSES ARE CALCULATED BY USING AN AUTOMATED PROCEDURE TO COUPLE SCENA RIOS FOR TROOP ACTIVITIES TO THE RADIATION ENVIRONMENT. UNCERTAINTIES ARE DETERMINED FOR EACH PARAMETER. POSSIBLE INTERNAL DOSES ARE ANALYZE D. THE CALCULATED TOTAL FILM BADGE EQUIVALENT GAMMA DOSES RANGE FROM 0 .04 REM (SOME SHOT GRABLE ELEMENTS) TO 3.1 REM (SOME SHOT SIMON ELEMEN TS). INITIAL DOSES WERE LESS THAN 0.02 REM FOR ANY SHOT. THE LARGEST I NTERNAL WHOLE-BODY DOSE COMMITMENT IS 0.05 REM (SOME SHOT GRABLE ELEME NTS).
