Description/Abstract:
THE RADIATION DOSES TO MANEUVER UNITS FOR EXERCISE DESERT ROCK V ARE R ECONSTRUCTED FOR EACH APPLICABLE SHOT OF OPERATION UPSHOT-KNOTHOLE ( 1 953 ). THE MANEUVER TROOP UNITS RECEIVED THE SAME INITIAL RADIATION DO SES AS CALCULATED PREVIOUSLY FOR TROOP OBSERVERS AT THESE SHOTS. RESID UAL DOSES ARE CALCULATED BY USING AN AUTOMATED PROCEDURE TO COUPLE SCE NARIOS FOR TROOP ACTIVITIES TO THE RADIATION ENVIRONMENT. UNCERTAINTIE S ARE DETERMINED FOR EACH PARAMETER. POSSIBLE INTERNAL DOSES ARE ANALY ZED. THE CALCULATED TOTAL FILM BADGE EQUIVALENT GAMMA DOSES RANGE FROM 0.04 REM ( SOME SHOT GRABLE ELEMENTS ) TO 3.1 REM ( SOME SHOT SIMON E LEMENTS ). INITIAL DOSES WERE LESS THAN 0.02 REM FOR ANY SHOT. THE LAR GEST INTERNAL WHOL-BODY DOSE COMMITMENT IS 0.05 REM ( SOME SHOT GRABLE ELEMENTS ).
