Description/Abstract:
THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT 1.11 WERE TO: (1) DETERMINE THE EFFECTI VE HYDRODYNAMIC YIELD FOR THE BOTTOM OF SHOT UMBRELLA; (2) MEASURE THE TOTAL ENERGY RELEASE OF SHOTS WAHOO AND UMBRELLA; AND (3) DETERMINE E NERGY PARTITION, SHOCK VELOCITY, AND OTHER HYDRODYNAMIC VARIABLES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO KNOWLEDGE OF AN UNDERWATER EXPLOSION. THE TIME OF ARRI VAL OF THE SHOCK WAVE AT POINTS ALONG A VERTICAL LINE ABOVE THE WEAPON , AS DETECTED BY TWO SETS OF PRESSURE SWITCHES AND A DOPPLER SYSTEM, W ERE TO BE TELEMETERED TO A REMOTE RECEIVING STATION. NO DATA WAS OBTA INED FROM SHOT WAHOO BECAUSE OF FAILURE OF THE TRANSMITTERS OF THE TEL EMETERING SYSTEM. DATA WAS OBTAINED FROM SHOT UMBRELLA FROM THE PRESS URE SWITCH SYSTEMS, BUT THE DOPPLER CABLE BROKE SO NO DATA WAS OBTAINE D FROM THE DOPPLER SYSTEM.
