Description/Abstract:
A RAPID AND SENSITIVE METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF STRONTIUM IN BON E WAS INVESTIGATED. STRONTIUM IS SEPARATED FROM A LARGE AMOUNT OF CAL CIUM WHICH EXISTS IN BONE AND FROM INTERFERING IONS WHICH DEPRESS THE STRONTIUM EMISSION USING CATION EXCHANGER WITH EDTA AS AN ELUTRIANT. STRONTIUM IN THE EFFLUENT, EDTA SOLUTION, CAN READILY BE DETERMINED B Y FLAME PHOTOMETRY WITHOUT ANY TREATMENT OF EFFLUENT, WHEN THE ENHANCI NG EFFECT OF EDTA ON THE INTENSITY OF STRONTIUM FLAME EMISSION IS UTIL IZED EFFECTIVELY. USING THIS METHOD, STRONTIUM CONTENT IN BONE COULD BE DETERMINED FROM ABOUT 0.2G OF BONE ASH WITH THE ERROR BELOW TEN PE RCENT AND WITH THE STANDARD DEVIATION OF 3.5 PERCENT. THE METHOD WOUL D BE ALSO USED FOR THE ANALYSES OF A MICRO AMOUNT OF STRONTIUM IN VARI OUS CALCAREOUS MATERIALS.
