Description/Abstract:
DOSE ESTIMATES AND GUIDELINES WHICH SERVED FOR THE BASIS OF THE ENIWET OK CLEANUP ARE REVIEWED. SIGNIFICANT EVENTS PERTAINING TO DOSE ESTIMAT ES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE PUBLICATION OF THE CLEANUP ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT. THESE EVENTS ARE IDENTIFIED AND DISCUSSED. DOSE ESTIMATES ARE THEN CALCULATED FOR THE LIVING PATTERN EXPECTED FOLLOWING THE CLE ANUP. CURRENT DATA COLLECTED DURING THE CLEANUP ARE USED IN CALCULATIO NS WHERE POSSIBLE. ESTIMATES INDICATE SUBURANIC ELEMENTS CONTRIBUTE A GREATER PORTION OF RADIATION DOSE THAN TRANSURANIC ELEMENTS FOR THE P LANNED LIVING PATTERN, AND THAT CONDITION WILL PREVAIL FOR AT LEAST TH E NEXT CENTURY. MOREOVER, THE DOSE ESTIMATES LEAD TO UNACCEPTABLY HIGH VALUES. SEVERAL RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR ENHANCING THE BENEFITS T O BE GAINED FROM THE CLEANUP.
