THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON RADIATION PROTECTION (NCRP) PROPOSES THAT TH E MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE DOSE (MPD) WEEKLY LIMIT FOR CONTROLLED AREAS REM AIN AT .3REM, WITH A 13-WEEK DOSE LIMIT OF 3REM. THE MPD ACCUMULATED A T ANY AGE, N, EQUALS 5(N-18) REM. THE NCRP SETS 25 REM AS THE EMERGENC Y DOSE TO THE WHOLE BODY. THE MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE FOR THE POP ULATION AS WHOLE FROM ALL SOURCES OF RADIATION SHALL NOT EXCEED 14 MIL LION REM PER MILLION OF POPULATION OVER THE PERIOD FROM CONCEPTION TO AGE 30.
