THIS DOCUMENT IS A REPORT FROM THE CHIEF, RADSAFE BRANCH TO THE COMMAN DER, JOINT TASK FORCE EIGHT COVERING RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY SUPPORT DURIN G OPERATION DOMINIC. IT CONTAINS A DESCRIPTION OF THE MISSION, ORGANIZ ATION, AND ACTIVITIES OF THE RADSAFE BRANCH AND TEMPORARY SUPPORT ELEM ENTS, JOINT TASK FORCE EIGHT, DURING THE 1962 NUCLEAR TEST SERIES COND UCTED IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN AREA. RADSAFE BRANCH, A PART OF THE J-3 DIV ISION, WAS CHARGED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PROVIDING RADIOLOGICAL S AFETY SUPPORT FOR THE TASK FORCE. THE VARIOUS CHAPTERS ARE DEVOTED TO DISCUSSION OF THE ACTIVITIES ENGAGED IN BY RADSAFE BRANCH, AND THE ORG ANIZATION NECESSARY TO PROVIDE RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY SUPPORT FOR A WEAPO NS TEST OPERATION OF THE MAGNITUDE OF OPERATION DOMINIC. IN CONTRAST T O PREVIOUS OPERATIONS, NO FALLOUT OF SIGNIFICANCE OCCURED AS A RESULT OF THE AIR DROPS. SPECIAL PROBLEMS ARISING FROM THE HIGH ALTITUDE EVEN TS ARE DISCUSSED.
