A STUDY OF RADIOACTIVITY IN ANIMAL THYROID GLANDS INDICATES THAT RADIO ACTIVE IODINE IS ACCUMULATED AND REDILY DETECTABLE IN THESE GLANDS FOL LOWING NUCLEAR WEAPONS TESTING. THE LEVELS FOUND ARE AN INDEX OF FISSI ON PRODUCT CONTAMINATION IN THE AREA.
