BASED ON THE OPERATIONAL REPORTS SUBMITTED A FTER EACH DETONATION DURING OPERATION UPSHOT-KNOTHOLE TO THE SURGEON G ENERAL, A DISCUSSION OF THE HEALTH IMPLICATIONS OF OFFSITE RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT IS PRESENTED. INCLUDED ARE DATA ON THE PASSAGE OF THE CLOUD, INTENSITY LEVELS OF RADIOACTIVITY IN THE AIR, INTENSITY LEVELS OF RES IDUAL RADIOACTIVITY IN THE GROUND, DURATION OF FALLOUT, AND THE SIZE A ND SHAPE OF FALLOUT PATTERNS. POINTS OF OBSERVATION ARE LISTED, AND F ORECAST OF FALLOUT MAPS ARE INCLUDED. DATA ARE ARRANGED ON AN EVENT B Y EVENT BASIS, ONE THROUGH ELEVEN.
