Description/Abstract:
DUNHAM DISCUSSES THE DIVISION OF BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE"S VIEWS ON RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY CRITERIA AT THE NEVADA TEST SITE. FOR REACTOR OPERATIONS: IT IS THE INTENT OF THESE CRITERIA TO LIMIT RELEASE OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS FROM REACTOR OPERATIONS TO QUANTITIES WHICH ARE UNLIKELY TO RESULT IN EXPOSURE OF OFFSITE PERSONS TO EXTERNAL GAMMA RADIATION IN EXCESS OF THE LIMITS SPECIFIED IN THE AEC MANUAL CHAPTER 0524.THE RADIATION EXPOSURE TO OFFSITE PERSONS SHOULD NOT EXCEED 3.9 ROENTGENS EXTERNAL GAMMA EXPOSURE. FOR A COMBINATION OF NON-WEAPONS OPERATIONS AND NUCLEAR WEAPONS TESTING, THE CRITERIA IN EFFECT FOR OPERATION PLUMBBOB WILL APPLY UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THEY MAY BE REVISED.
