Description/Abstract:
THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS NOTES FROM DRS. SILBERSTEIN AND SAENGER PERTAINING TO PATIENTS RECEIVING WHOLE OR PARTIAL BODY EXPOSURE TO COBALT 60 RADIOTHERAPY. THE NOTES INCLUDE MEASUREMENTS OF GRAM WEIGHT OF BONE MARROW IN VARIOUS SPECIFIED BODY REGIONS AND NOTES ON RADIATION ADMINISTERED TO SPECIFIC BODY REGIONS. ATTACHED ARE PREPARED TABLES REFLECTING THE INFORMATION/CALCULATIONS FROM THE NOTES. IN ADDITION, THERE IS CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN LT. COL. RONALD L. PERSING AND DR. EUGENE L. SAENGER REGARDING A DASA MEDICAL COORDINATION CONFERENCE AT THE AIR FORCE WEAPONS LABORATORY ON "DOSIMETRY AND ITS APPLICATION TO RADIOBIOLOGY." INCLUDED WITH THE CORRESPONDENCE IS AN ABSTRACT OF A PAPER TO BE PRESENTED AT THE CONFERENCE ENTITLED "BONE MARROW DOSIMETRY IN A CO-60 IRRADIATED TISSUE-EQUIVALENT HUMAN PHANTOM." FOLLOWING THIS CORRESPONDENCE IS AN ARTICLE WRITTEN BY J.S. WELLINGTON, R.M. ELASHOFF, AND F.C. LUDWIG. THE ARTICLE DISCUSSES "BONE MARROW RESPONSE TO ACUTE RADIATION INJURY IN RFM/U MICE AFTER WHOLE-AND PARTIAL-BODY EXPOSURE TO X-RAYS."
