Description/Abstract:
The pulse rocket system studies made here up to now have assumed that the pressure vessel has simply to sustain quasi-steady-state gas pressure multiplied by a constant factor of 4. This assumption results in a fixed ratio between vessel mass and energy, dependent on yield stress and density of the vessel material. A simple formula, given below, provides some improvement in treatment of this subject by taking initial transient pressures into account. Comparisons with other available data are shown.
