THE ADIRONDACKS AND OTHER EASTERN AREAS.IT ALSO AFFECTS SUCH WESTERN STATES AS COLORADO, AS REPORTED TO THE SENATE ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE BY ROBERT A. ARNOTT, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN CHARGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH PROTECTION PROGRAMS.AND, HE SAID THE PROBLEM IS LIKELY TO GET WORSE WITH OIL SHALE PROCESSING, SYNTHETIC FUEL PRODUCTION AND OTHER ENERGY RELATED PROJECTS THAT ARE "INEVITABLE" SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION WHICH COULD CAUSE INCREASE ACID DEPOSITION IN THE STATE--PLUS THE ACCOMPANYING POPULATION INCREASES WHICH WILL INTENSIFY EMISSIONS FROM MOBILE SOURCES.ARNOTT EXPLAINED THAT A SPECIAL TASK FORCE WAS ESTABLISHED IN COLORADO BY THE GOVENOR'S SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ADVISORY COUNCIL AND RECENTLY REPORTED ITS INTERIM FINDINGS
