Description/Abstract:
For the SNAP II reactor concept a minimum volume system is required. For this reason a triangular, mutually tangent array of fuel rods is of interest. In order to obtain the temperature distribution in an array of rods which are in contact with one another, a detailed description of the coolant velocity profile is required. Due to the low power requirement, a small flow rate is sufficient and the coolant is in laminar flow. This work is concerned with the velocity profile for the fluid in laminar axial flow through a triangular, mutually tangent array of fuel rods.
