Description/Abstract:
The results of a survey conducted in the "T" Bldg to discover means of reducing the levels of alpha contamination in the operational areas and to determine the theoretical polonium-processing capacity of the "T" Bldg, based on contamination as the limiting factor, are presented. The seriousness of "T" Bldg contamination is determined from a study of 2 factors, the urine-count history of the operating personnel and the levels of activity in the various operating areas. Successful attempts at reducing air levels in both the high and low-risk operating areas are discussed. It is concluded that a serious problem of contamination does not presently exist but that levels of activity may be reduced if outlined recommendations are practiced. A theoretical 1-shift operating capacity for the "T" Bldg is approximately 950 C Po/day, based on contamination as the limiting factor.
